"South Polls can do more on less than any cattle breed I have been associated with"
Stocker, Northeast Alabama
My personal opinion on the South Poll breed compared to other breeds I have had in the past:
The South Poll are a very low maintenance breed and are very docile. Their weight holds up well in the South’s extreme heat during the summer and in the winter, even with calves at their side. Cows are a medium weight range with very good udders and milk production. I have a lot of growers that visit my ranch throughout the year and 8 out of 10 will comment, “That cow is about to calve” and my reply might be, “That’s her 350-pound calf right there beside her.” They can’t believe it! If in doubt, go visit Holiday Ranch and see for yourself.

Since starting with South Polls, I have used two Holiday Ranch bulls, 516 and 918, both have had a profoundly positive impact on our herd development and success.

In my experience South Poll genetics are a key ingredient in a simple recipe for low-input, profitable beef production.

It was a huge turning point when I saw the red slick-haired cows out grazing in the heat while the black ones were in the shade.

You must have guts and butts to make it in the grass-fed business. South Polls seem to hit the mark.
